It's 6.15pm. Someone has asked "what's for dinner?" for the third time, the fridge is holding a lonely packet of beef, and the takeaway app is flashing at you like a lighthouse. Stay strong. With Lee Kum Kee teriyaki sauce in the pantry, a glossy, sticky, sweet-and-savoury teriyaki beef stir-fry is about 20 minutes away, and nobody has to know how little effort it took.

What Is Teriyaki, Anyway?

The name is a neat little two-parter from Japanese: teri, meaning shine or lustre, and yaki, meaning to grill. Put simply, it's food that's been cooked and glazed until it gleams. Traditionally that glaze is built on soy, sweetness and a bit of patience. The patience is the part most of us are short on at 6.15pm, which is exactly where a good ready-made teriyaki sauce earns its keep.

Why We Stock Lee Kum Kee Ready Sauce Teriyaki Beef

Lee Kum Kee has been making Asian sauces for well over a century, and this one shows why it's a name professional kitchens and home cooks both trust. The 100g pack is a soy and sesame teriyaki sauce blended with honey, garlic and a touch of tomato for depth. It's savoury-sweet, beautifully balanced, and designed to cling to whatever you're cooking.

A few reasons it's earned a spot on our international pantry shelves:

- No added preservatives and no added flavouring
- Suitable for vegetarians, so it's just as happy on tofu or mushrooms as it is on beef
- Single-meal pack: no half-empty bottle sulking in the back of the fridge door
- Seriously versatile: beef, chicken, salmon, prawns, veggies, or brushed on at the barbie

More Ways to Use Teriyaki Sauce

Beef is the headline act, but this sauce has plenty of range:

Teriyaki chicken skewers: Toss chicken thigh pieces in the sauce, thread onto skewers and grill until caramelised and slightly charred.

Sticky teriyaki salmon: Brush over salmon fillets for the last few minutes in a hot oven. Serve with greens and rice.

Barbecue glaze: Brush onto steak, ribs or corn in the final minutes on the barbie. Add it too early and the sugars burn, so hold your nerve.

Teriyaki soba noodles: Toss with cooked soba noodles, broccoli and sliced chicken for a speedy weeknight bowl.

Vegetarian teriyaki tofu: Pan-fry firm tofu until golden, then glaze. Proof that meat-free Monday can still be the best night of the week.

Easy Teriyaki Beef Stir-Fry with Lee Kum Kee Teriyaki Sauce

Ingredients

  • 400g rump or sirloin steak, thinly sliced across the grain

  • 1 pack Lee Kum Kee Ready Sauce Teriyaki Beef (100g)

  • 1 tbsp neutral oil (rice bran or peanut)

  • 1 head broccoli, cut into small florets

  • 1 red capsicum, sliced

  • 1 small brown onion, sliced

  • 2 spring onions, sliced on the diagonal

  • Toasted sesame seeds, to finish

  • Steamed jasmine rice or noodles, to serve

Directions

  1. Get the pan screaming hot. Heat the oil in a wok or large frying pan over high heat until it just starts to shimmer.

  2. Sear the beef in batches. Crowd the pan and your beef will steam instead of sizzle. Cook for 1–2 minutes until browned, then set it aside.

  3. Stir-fry the veg. Add onion, broccoli and capsicum. Toss for 3–4 minutes until bright and just tender. A splash of water helps the broccoli along.

  4. Bring it all together. Return the beef, pour in the teriyaki sauce and toss for 1–2 minutes until everything is glossy and coated.

  5. Finish and serve. Scatter with spring onion and sesame seeds and serve over rice or noodles.
