Build a Mornington Peninsula Grazing Platter With Chilli Crunch

Entertaining without performing a kitchen opera

A good Mornington Peninsula grazing platter should look generous, taste impressive and leave the host enough time to speak to the guests. Six-Eyed Scorpion chilli oil helps by turning a few simple ingredients into proper conversation starters.

Its crisp shallot and garlic, savoury shiitake and soy, fragrant spices and slow-building heat work especially well with creamy cheese, sweet honey, fresh seafood and roasted vegetables. In other words, it behaves beautifully with the foods already hoping to join your platter.

Start with three spicy centrepieces

Chilli-honey halloumi

Pan-fry slices of halloumi until golden. Mix two teaspoons of honey with one teaspoon of Original Crispy Chilli Oil, then spoon it over the warm cheese. Add lemon zest and serve promptly before someone decides the entire plate is a personal entrée.

Whipped feta with chilli crunch

Blend feta with Greek yoghurt and a squeeze of lemon until creamy. Spread it across a shallow bowl and create a generous swirl. Spoon crispy chilli oil into the centre, then add herbs and toasted flatbread.

Chilli-lime prawns

Toss cooked prawns with lime juice, chopped coriander and a small spoonful of chilli oil. Serve chilled with toothpicks, or warm them briefly in a pan for a more substantial platter.

Add contrast around the heat

Complete the board with cucumber, radishes, cherry tomatoes, grilled capsicum, olives, grapes or sliced pear. Add crackers, sourdough and flatbread for scooping. Mild cheeses and yoghurt-based dips cool the palate, while pickles and citrus keep the richer elements bright.

Place the Six-Eyed Scorpion jar on the table with a clean spoon. Guests can choose their own heat level, and the label provides an efficient opening topic if the conversation becomes trapped in real estate.

Original or Extra Spicy for entertaining?

Original is the crowd-friendly choice, with a stated heat level of 6 out of 10. It delivers warmth and crunch without overwhelming delicate ingredients. Extra Spicy rises to 8 out of 10 and suits a dedicated corner of the board for guests who believe perspiration is a flavour enhancer.

For larger gatherings, the 720ml XL format reduces the risk of scraping the bottom of a small jar while six people watch. Selected multipacks can also make useful host gifts or pantry supplies.
